A moment for reflection was the subject for Steve when he took to the stage, it started with a story about a little girl wanting to play football at 4 years of age, eventually at 5 she started with the the boys club at Golborne and through a newspaper report and her mothers conversation with 2 girls in Golborne kit on the street found Golborne Girls Football Club at the age of 7.
There a lady quite straight talking, but the club a great place to be for this girl. The coaches top class and training undertaken alongside all the age groups on a Tuesday and Thursday. This Girl looked up to this lady once she had got past the straight talking and enjoyed her football at the club alongside her peers, even now at the age of 10 years old.
The club as we all know took a turn for the worse the beginning of the season as the numbers dropped to about 20% of the membership from the previous season.
This devastating for the lady concerned and she lost heart. The club established in 2003. Seven years of the pressure and responsibility a bit too much for anyone.
The highlights a total of 19 cups from leagues and tournaments, the roll of honour we'll list on the website again, players moving from grass roots football into academy football and last year The Charter Standard Award.
Steve reminded everyone that to keep the club going this year hard work even with welcomed support from the parents, the WDGFL and John at the boys club. To do it for 7 years what an achievement.
Once you get behind the sometimes abrupt and straight talking person there is a genuine caring person whose vision for the club was to be successful and provide quality coaching for all our players. A vision we now have to uphold.
The Lady: Jackie Walton - as a club we wish her well.
Jackie then presented the open age trophies [We could do with the list of players and awards].
